The DHS Hurricane Long 5A blade is a specific variant from the popular Hurricane Long series, made famous by the legendary Ma Long. The main difference compared to the classic version (HL5) is the placement of the carbon layers and the overall playing character. Unlike the standard Long 5, which features carbon layers directly on the core (Inner-carbon), the 5A model utilizes an advanced Outer-carbon construction.
Construction and Key Features:
Ply Composition: 5 wood layers + 2 Arylate-carbon layers (A-Fiber) placed directly beneath the outer veneer.
Outer Koto Veneer: Harder wood gives the blade a sharper bounce and clear feedback, whereas the classic Long 5 version uses softer Limba.
Explosive Speed (OFF++): The blade feels faster and more direct on lighter shots. The carbon activates immediately, which significantly helps in drives and active blocks.
Modern Offensive Application: Offers a great balance of control and spin with a slightly shorter dwell-time. It is designed for play based on rotation and fast counter-attacks (fast-break loop).
